BioThe Beach Boys are an American rock band from Hawthorne, California. The original lineup of the band included brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, as well as cousin Mike Love and buddy Al Jardine. The members of the Beach Boys began as a garage band led by Brian Wilson and managed by the Wilsons' father, Murry Wilson. The band's first national hit, "Surfin' U.S.A.," was published in 1963, kicking off a succession of top-ten hits that mirrored a southern California youth culture of surfing, automobiles, and romance, called the "California sound." They were one of the few American rock bands to achieve commercial success during the British Invasion.
