BioThe Isley Brothers are an American musical group whose remarkable career has connected gospel, doo-wop, rock, soul, R&B, funk, and psychedelic music across generations. Formed by brothers Ronald, Rudolph, O’Kelly, and Vernon Isley, the group began performing in the 1950s before achieving a breakthrough with “Shout,” a recording that became an early rock-and-roll classic.
Their willingness to reinvent themselves kept their music relevant as popular styles changed. “Twist and Shout,” “It’s Your Thing,” “Who’s That Lady,” “For the Love of You,” “Summer Breeze,” “Harvest for the World,” and “Voyage to Atlantis” became among their most enduring recordings. Younger family members, including Ernie and Marvin Isley and Chris Jasper, later expanded the group's instrumental and songwriting capabilities.
The Isley Brothers were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, cementing their place in music history.
