BioThe Parlotones, established in 1998 in Johannesburg, South Africa, began their musical journey with a foundation in British pop but soon diversified into various musical genres. Their lyrics are grounded in relatable themes like love and everyday life. Originally named Crayon, they transitioned to The Parlotones after securing a deal with Sovereign Entertainment. Their inaugural album, 'Episoda,' debuted in 2005 under this label. They have received nine SAMA Awards and are known as the first South African band to headline at the Coca-Cola Dome. They gained fame in 2003 and in 2013, they made a pivotal move to the US.
