The Zomba Prison Project is a remarkable recording that showcases the music composed and performed by inmates at the overcrowded Zomba Central Prison in Malawi.

Produced by Ian Brennan, the album titled "I Have No Everything Here" gained international recognition, receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best World Music Album in 2016.

The project aimed to give a voice to the often overlooked and marginalized prisoners, shedding light on their challenging circumstances and the injustice they faced. The album features 20 tracks, sung mainly in the Chichewa language, and includes songs from 16 singer-songwriters within the prison.

The project not only produced powerful and personal music but also contributed to raising funds for legal representation for some prisoners, leading to the release of three female inmates.

This groundbreaking recording has garnered global acclaim and highlighted the struggles faced by those incarcerated at Zomba Prison.
