Ghanaian singer-songwriter Darkovibes is back on the music scene with the release of his 6-track EP, InterContinental. This new EP is coming almost a year after his largely successful album,  BUTiFLY.

InterContinental is a masterpiece that showcases Darkovibes' creativity, talent, and dedication to redefining Ghanaian music for the global audience. Once again, the artist, while proving he's one of the youngest in charge, has shown that he's unafraid to deliver hybrid tracks.

The EP starts with the reggae-influenced track, Run with My Heart, setting the tone for the project. The laid-back vibes and catchy hooks make it an infectious opener that draws listeners in and demonstrates Darkovibes' ability to deliver heartfelt lyrics and blend genres with ease.

The genre-bending approach takes another form in the second track, Bend Your Knees (Igbo). This pre-released track with a highlife and hip-hop influence has already garnered traction with over 300,000 plays across streaming platforms. The resonating effect of the track with fans all over has earned it a place in the body of work.

The amapiano-influenced Afrobeats track, Wifi, is another lead single on the project with over 400,000 streams across just Spotify and Audiomack. This track seamlessly flows into the fourth track, Stage. The transition is a sequencing masterclass, with the two tracks blending so smoothly that it is almost perfect. This attention to detail is the hallmark of Hylander’s production throughout the EP, creating a perfect foundation for Darkovibes to flourish.

The fifth track, Missionary, is also noteworthy, with its dramatic pause before Darkovibes’ vocals set in, creating a sense of anticipation, followed by the bold declaration of his artistry. Darkovibes boasts about the global appeal of his song, spanning from Ghana to the Caribbeans. His charismatic flow through Hylander’s sultry production takes center stage, reminding fans why he is a force to reckon with in the Ghanaian music scene.

The final track, Bie Sor (It’s Lit), is a club-lit banger. This is the only track with featured artists, bringing together RICCh KID and Fad Lan for a high-energy closer that would leave listeners moving. Their chemistry is obvious, reflected clearly through the brilliant collaboration, and gave room for each of the trio to shine with their unique styles.

Generally, without playing down the brilliance of the collaboration on the EP, the fact that the project has more solo tracks makes it a highlight. This allows fans to experience the full range of Darkovibes' artistry. It pays off in spades. This solo effort and incorporation of his local language in lyrics birth a project with uniqueness and authenticity.
