Throwing it back to late 2024, rising Nigerian artist Grav!tee —real name Tobechukwu Okey-Nduka—stepped boldly into the spotlight with his debut EP From This Day Forward. With just six tracks, the EP packs a lot into that short runtime—blending Hip-hop, Afrobeats, and R&B. It’s the kind of debut that leaves an instant impression.

The project begins with No Perfection, and Grav!tee wastes no time showing what he’s made of. Over a hard-hitting Starsigns-produced beat, he switches effortlessly between rapping and singing, owning the space with grit and melody.

Up next is Big Bag, one of the pre-released singles that fans have already started listening to. Featuring Stakexx, the track rides on a background rock-style vamp that adds weight to the confident delivery from both artists. It is the most-streamed song on the EP, and it’s easy to see why.

Feelings, the third track, switches gears into a more rhythmic, Afrobeats tune. The log drum sets the mood, and Grav!tee glides on the beat with a calm, unforced presence. There’s emotion in the delivery, but it’s restrained in that cool, layered way. It’s like when someone is telling you how they feel without getting too loud about it.

Free Your Mind is arguably one of the standout tracks on the project. He shows an effortless flow, the kind that shows he's just as much a vibe-maker as he is a storyteller. There’s a message in there about letting go and freeing your mind.

The last track, Let Go, is where Grav!tee gets most reflective. He opens up about the ups and downs of love, showing a softer, more vulnerable side. His vocal range and melodic choices give the track a textured, emotional depth. It’s the kind of ending that demonstrates what we should expect from a fantastic singer and songwriter.

Grav!tee lays the perfect foundation for himself, with every track feeling like a deliberate piece of his story, delivered with range and precision. If From This Day Forward is just the beginning, we’d better keep an eye out for this prospect. His latest release, Can’t Believe which dropped in April, leans heavily into drill influences, showing yet another layer of his versatility.
