IMIBUZO BY LOWFEYE - A PEN GAME MASTERY

Lowfeye releases his highly anticipated body of work 'Imibuzo', seven month after his hugely successful album, Mfana Kamakhulu.
Lowfeye releases his highly anticipated third project, Imibuzo. The promising South African artist and co-founder of Qwellers returns to the scene with a body of work just seven months after his hugely successful and chart-topping project, Mfana Kamakhulu.
In this 7-track project, Lowfeye explores the themes of love, time, pressure, and self-reflection. Again, he reaffirms himself as one of the growing compelling voices in the South African music industry.
From the opening track Imibuzo, which bears the same name as the title, the project's tone is set. With slow-burning flow, dreamy synths, and scintillating vocals, the track carries the idea of vulnerability, drawing listeners into the project’s overall feel with the magnificent introduction.
On the third track, Gijima, featuring GVNT, who co-produced the previous track, brings a fresh energy entirely. With a slight increase to the pace of the beat, while threading lyrically over the rap-infused rhythm, the duo tested and put their lyrical flows to work.
They continued riding on the high horse of lyrical flows as the fourth track, Pressure quickly sets in. Featuring standout collaborators in Anzo and Lolli Native, the production is thick and the beats hard-hitting, as they trade verses about resilience amidst life expectation’s pressures and staying strong through it all.
Lowfeye steps back into the limelight with his solo entries in the second half of the project — Proud and Iskhathi, the fifth and sixth tracks. Featuring cinematic beats, his storytelling takes center stage as he weaves stories of gratitude, ambition, and the relentless nature of time. In these songs, he flexes his pen game proving that he can be deeply introspective when he chooses to be.
The project closes with some groove and vibe in Buya, as Lowfeye teams up with Fanaticalb3ing. This is definitely a perfect end to the project. There’s a sense of resolution—a homecoming feeling that lingers through the lyrics and the beat even after the notes have faded, delivering a feeling of climax.
With Imibuzo, Lowfeye delivers yet another stunning body of work, a project that stands as one of his best works yet. There’s no doubt the EP resonated with fans in all works of life as it peaked at number 4 on the Apple Top 10 Albums in South Africa at the first week of release.
