Nigerian Afro-dancehall artist Anthony Offiah, professionally known as King Perryy, drops his first project offering for the year with the EP Niggas From The South (NFTS). The seven-track masterpiece celebrates his Afro-dancehall roots and the rich talent of the Southern Nigeria region.

The EP features close-knit collaborators. It also displays a unique synergy on each track, and with over 800,000 streams across streaming platforms, many people love it.

The project kicks off with "Believe," the only solo track on the project. The track opens with a Burna Boy sample, setting the tone for a reflective and inspiring vibe. King Perryy glides on a slow dancehall riddim as he reflects on his journey and the power of belief. He echoes a standout line: "If you really wanna be something, you gats believe."

Hustle, which sits second, flows in immediately. The track features Hitboy Kellz and veteran storytelling rapper Erigga. It is a relatable song, where gritty verses meet melodies that capture the hustling spirit of a South man.

On "Gbege," which features Kaestyle and PsychoYP, King Perryy’s experiment shines brilliantly as he fuses drill and highlife. Kaestyle’s soulful melodies and PsychoYP’s sharp drill bars make this track a classic, showcasing the versatility and talent of both King Perryy and his collaborators.

The fourth track, "Whine Dey Go" is a dancehall gem featuring Timaya, the dancehall legend and King Perryy’s former boss. Their chemistry is undeniable. Timaya’s influence on Perryy’s artistry is as clear as day. This track highlights the Afro-dancehall heritage in the best way possible.

The fifth track and fan favorite, "Confirm Parole," features Ajebo Hustlers and Dan Dizzy, two rap heavyweights from the South-South. This track is a definition of an undiluted South-South street anthem. The featured rappers brought their A-game, delivering a gritty anthem with street vibes and slang. This banger oozes determination and hopes for greatness and pays tribute to South-South music heavyweights. The track has already racked up over 350k plays, cementing its place as one of the EP’s high points.

On "Money Long," Perryy goes down to South East, recruiting one of the fast-rising Igbo rappers, JeriQ. The track blends highlife guitar melodies and horn sections with street-savvy bars, creating a delightful blend of grit and grove, which would slap with a glass of palm wine in one’s hand. Here, King Perryy’s smooth vocals complement JeriQ’s raw, unfiltered rhymes.

"Cruise & Sara" with ZerryDL close the EP, a track with free vibes and energy. It’s a playful end to the hard-hitting, reflective, and intentional project.

With this project, King Perryy carries the torch passed down by Southern music legends like Timaya, Duncan Mighty, Burna Boy, and Omah Lay, while doing it with a unique twist.

NFTS celebrates the talent of the South-South and is proof that “Port Harcourt boys no dey carry last.”
