Last night at the 2025 MOBO Awards, Nigerian music star Ayra Starr won big, taking home the well-coveted Best International Act and Best African Music Act awards.

Competing against Nigerian artists Asake and Tems, American Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz and Nicki Minaj, and South African Tyla, Ayra Starr clinched the Best International Act and made history as the first female winner in this category.

She also won the Best African Music Act award. Her fellow contenders were Nigerian artists Asake, Tems, Bnxn & Ruger, Odumodublvck, Rema, and Shallipopi; Ghanaian King Promise; and South African Tyla and Uncle Waffles.
