Bio
Mthunzi, born Njabulo Mthunzi Ndimande in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal, is a multi-platinum South African singer-songwriter and producer whose career reflects steady growth from grassroots beginnings to mainstream success. Encouraged by his mother from an early age, he developed his musical foundation through church and community performances before beginning to record and share music independently on SoundCloud in 2008. His breakthrough came in 2019 after relocating to Johannesburg and linking up with producer Sun-El Musician under El World Music, where he released “Ngibambe La,” a track that gained widespread streaming success. This momentum led to his debut album, "Selimathunzi" in 2020, which earned a SAMA nomination. Mthunzi’s rise accelerated through Amapiano, particularly with Kabza De Small’s collaborative project "Isimo" in 2023. The hit “Imithandazo” dominated awards circuits, winning major categories at the Metro FM Music Awards and SAMAs. He has since collaborated with artists such as Ami Faku, Young Stunna, and Zakes Bantwini.
