Themba Sekowe, professionally known as DJ Maphorisa or Madumane, is a South African DJ, record producer, and vocalist whose innovative sound has reshaped the continent’s music. Born in Soshanguve, Pretoria, he began in the local music scene, developing a genre-blending style that fuses house, Amapiano, Afropop, and Kwaito. A former member of Uhuru, he rose to prominence producing hits like “Y-Tjukutja” and “Khona,” and co-produced Drake’s global hit “One Dance.” His collaborations span African and international stars, including Wizkid, Major Lazer, Black Coffee, and Kabza De Small.
