Styl-Plus, a four-man band initially known as STYL was formed in 1997 by Shifi Emoefe, Tunde Akinsanmi, Yemi Akinwonmi, and Lanre Faneyi. The name "STYL" was formed from the first letter of each member's first name.

Two years later, Lanre, passed away and was replaced by Zeal Onyecheme. After Zeal joined, the group's name was changed to Styl-Plus. Then Yemi left.

The group evolved from singing only gospel to inspirational and love songs.

In 2012, the leader of the group, Tunde, pulled out. Nevertheless, the group is still performing with the duo - Shifi and Zeal.
