BioFamily Factory is a South African contemporary gospel collective formed in the early 1990s in Durban by Lindelani Mkhize, Mthunzi Namba, and Jabu Hlongwane. The group was created to introduce a more contemporary, English-driven gospel style at a time when the space was largely shaped by traditional church formats.
Their early journey faced setbacks, including low audience turnout and reduced industry backing, but they continued performing and gradually built recognition through persistence and live presentation. Family Factory operated as a flexible vocal ensemble rather than a fixed lineup, often working as backing vocalists for local and international artists.
Their projects include “The Journey” (1996), “Devotion” (1998), and “Deliverance” (1999). Beyond their releases, their long-term impact is tied to the formation of Joyous Celebration, which carried forward their structure and musical direction.
