BioMind Assault is a heavy metal band that formed in 2003 in South Africa by Jacques Fourie, Franscois Pretorius, Patrick Davidson, and Donovan Tose.
The band gained attention in October 2004 under the name Mind Assault, becoming the first extreme metal band in South Africa to incorporate their native language, Afrikaans, into their music.
Known for their politically charged lyrics, Mind Assault has become a form of activism for political freedom in South Africa. Their songs address issues related to state and political interest, as well as personal and social problems.
The band has maintained a stable line-up of three founding members, with Andries Smit joining the band as the drummer in January 2007 and quickly establishing himself as a vital contributor to the band's sound and composition.
