BioRoots of Youth is a pop-rock band from South Africa that performs in both English and Afrikaans. Originally established in 2002 under the name Buckle Up in Pretoria, they gained significant recognition after winning R100,000 in the 2010 Doritos Be Heard competition, which resulted in a recording deal with SONY/BMG.
Their music blends elements of rock, pop, reggae, and soul, and delves into themes such as love, unity, resilience, and cultural pride. The band's prominent album, “Something to Say,” features popular tracks like “All Good Girls” and “Gebroke Hart.”
In 2011, they appeared in a 13-episode television series titled "Roots of Youth." Their lineup consists of Loki Rothman (guitar), Nianell (piano and guitar), Christoff “Stoff” de Beer (guitar), Marguerite Swart (drums), and Christene Fourie (keyboard).
