BioThe Super Eagles band started as a high school group and evolved into one of West Africa's most influential musical groups in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were instrumental in developing the Afro-Manding genre, which combined Manding music systems with soul, funk, and rock elements. Their popularity surged with hits like "Love's a Real Thing" and "Dama Da," which resonated widely due to their catchy melodies, danceable beats, and relatable lyrics sung in Wolof. Malando Gassama, an exceptional percussionist, was a key member of The Super Eagles. His expertise in various percussion instruments, including the congas and traditional Gambian drums, added a distinctive rhythmic complexity to the band’s music. His contribution was crucial in shaping the band’s sound and broadening their appeal.
