BioThe Sweat Band was a prominent force in 80s rock music from Cape Town and made a lasting impact on South Africa's music scene. Co-founded by John Mair and Dieter Stutz, with Leslie Cook on drums, the band went through various lineups before selecting Wendy Oldfield as the vocalist. Renowned for their dynamic performances, they graced iconic venues worldwide, including London’s Hyde Park and New York's The Bitter End. Their hit singles "This Boy" and "Tonite" gained national acclaim, reaching Springbok #15 in September 1986. Despite their fame, internal disputes and management changes led to the band's disbandment in 1988. Although they attempted a reunion in 2002, the band has been relatively quiet since then.
