Bio

Jean-Claude Gaspard, a celebrated Sega musician from Mauritius, discovered his love for music through his father, the renowned musician Roger Augustin. In 1966, Gaspard gained widespread recognition in Mauritius and across the entire Indian Ocean with the release of his debut recording, the Sega track "Wachi Wala." This initial success paved the way for subsequent hits, including "Mariage en essai" (Wedding Test), further solidifying his musical acclaim. In 1990, he received the Certificated and Badge of Honour (CBN) from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Jean-Claude Gaspard holds the remarkable distinction of having the most extensive discography in the Indian Ocean, a testament to his enduring influence in the region's music scene.
