BioThe Dorp Band is a South African electro band currently based in London, England. Originally known as the Fauves, the band was founded in 1992 by Myburh Grobbelaar, Albert Loubster, Dylan Kemlo, Timothy Rankin, and David Poole while they were students at Parel Vallei High School in Somerset West. In 1996, Dorp released its debut album titled "Indigenous Jewelry." The following year, in 1997, the band recorded their second release, a 5-track EP named "Five Steps off the Pacemaker," which was released on Wilede Beat Records. This EP gained wider distribution compared to their first album. Notably, The Dorp Band embarked on tours with notable acts such as Groove Armada and the Violent Femmes, further solidifying their presence. Sadly, despite achieving success, financial pressures led to the band disbanding in 2008.
