Alhaji Orezi is back with a bang like he never left after several inquiries by well-meaning fans about his whereabouts. The Nigerian Afrobeats star returns to the music scene with Chocolate Daddy, a nine-track EP.

Orezi, known for his melodic capacity and craftsmanship, rose to prominence with his hit song "Rihanna" in 2013 and has since delivered some big hits that have helped place the Nigerian music industry on the global map. Some of them are Maserati (2014), Afrobeat Beauty, “Cooking Pot (2017), and Sweet Sensation (2019) among others.

The singer acknowledged that he had been quiet for some time but declared that he was ready to take Afrobeats to the next level and that the genre would not be worth listening to without him. “The lion cannot miss its hunt. On my shoulder, I will carry the Afrobeats to the next level and I will dominate”, he said. "The uncrowned king is back to take his crown, " he added.

Looking now at the delivery of this beautiful EP, The Chocolate Daddy represents the unparalleled value of women to society and its experiences. It is a mixture of love, pleasure, lust, enjoyment, and living big amidst problems and desires.

This Extended Playlist shows Orezi’s ability to adapt to new trends that resonate with fans, with his blend of genres starting with his number two track on the album titled “Freak You” which is classic reggae music, down to the likes of “No advice Me” where he used one popular phrase among Nigerian youths, “Teacher no teach me nonsense” which is addressed to people advising him on how to spend and live and “My Queen – Remix” that has garnered the most plays on digital streaming platforms. Even though the aforementioned tracks, No Advice Me and My Queen – Remix are Afrobeats track that has garnered the most plays, there is another incredibly crafted Afrobeats track on the EP, “Columbiana”; there are other blends of genres in this release, like Amapiano in “One call away” and “I swear” and Dancehall in “Start To Dance”.

Generally, the blend of genres like Reggae, Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Dancehall makes this release a standout and makes it impossible to resist dancing to his tunes. The standout track in this release I believe is “Columbiana”, one's love for this track is not just centered on the lyrics but also the instrumentation, and introduction of the Log drum in Afrobeats, creating a unique blend and influence from the South African music scene makes it special. This album will get a rating of 7.5/10 in my books, it could resonate more with other music enthusiasts around the world which is fine. Finally, it’s an EP that deserves a place on your playlist.
