Multiple award-winning Ghanaian artist Martin King Arthur, known by the stage name Kofi Kinaata, has released his debut body of work titled "Kofi OO Kofi," a title inspired by his fans.

This 7-track Extended Play (EP) is an introspective release that delves into themes of family, childhood stories, lifestyle, struggle, and self-discovery, all delivered with Kofi’s smooth flow and insightful lyricism. According to Kofi Kinaata, this body of work will give good music lovers the chance to have various subjects to think about.

Released on May 10, 2024, Kofi Kinaata who is known for previously releasing only singles said in an interview, “As my first body of work, I felt free to talk about the subjects that are dear to me so I was not under any pressure when working on this.” His words give a glimpse of how carefully he curated the tracks.

The EP opens with the song ‘Auntie Ama’, a tribute to the artist's mother, who he knows as Auntie Ama. This first track is a beautiful ode to motherhood. It also gives insight into his upbringing in Effiakuma, Takoradi. Kinaata sings about his mother’s impact and her advice urging him to face his studies and stay away from the influence of bad friends. This song is a blend of rhythmic flows and beautiful melodies, creating a nostalgic atmosphere.

The second track ‘Abosam’ is composed in a 3/2 clave time signature like the popular Afrobeats. The track takes a darker turn as Kinaata explores the complexities of human nature and the presence of evil in the world, attributing the challenges he is going through to the devil.

‘Saman’ which employs the Ghanaian highlife guitar pattern, is an upbeat track that delves into the theme of perseverance and the joy of living in the moment. Kofi Kinaata carefully blends infectious rhythms and a positive message. This track is certain to get listeners grooving and likely to evoke nostalgia among old highlife fans.

Kofi Kinaata pours his heart out in the fourth track ‘Effiakuma Broken Heart.’ Here, he tackles the pain of heartbreak and the journey to heal while the following track titled, ‘I Don’t Care’ injects a dose of swagger. The fifth track with its infectious hook encourages listeners to stay focused on their goals and not be swayed by negativity.

The sixth track ‘Take Away’ is a smooth and soulful track that showcases Kinaata's singing abilities. The song is a romantic serenade, expressing love and commitment. With a blend of heartfelt lyrics and melodic flows, it’s a beautiful addition to the EP.

The EP comes to a close with the highlife-infused track ‘Overthinking’ which sums up the whole album story with the advice, “You reap what you sow”. The song also asserts everyone should appreciate the present moment and avoid getting lost in worry. It serves as a fitting conclusion to the musical journey Kofi Kinaata has taken his fans.
