Nigerian rap icon and YBNL record boss Olamide has surprised fans with the release of his tenth solo studio album, Ikigai / 生き甲斐, Vol. 1. This seven-track EP, whose title translates to "purpose of life" in Japanese, reflects Olamide’s versatility and artistry.

The EP starts with the statement track Metaverse, a banger with an unforgettable chorus. In this track, he blends Afrobeats with electronic elements, thus setting the tone for a great listening experience. Olamide’s signature vocal weaves through the electrifying synths, prominent bass drums, and intricate rhythms captivating listeners from the on-set.

The second track, Uptown Disco, comes in as a groovy, dance-floor-ready anthem. This track has taken the clubs like a storm. Olamide switches gears on this third track, Makaveli. Drawing into his hard-hitting-bars-Olamide from his early days in the industry, with poetic rhymes, to create an impressive and immersive listening.

The next is Knockout, a high-octane club jam. This track is guaranteed to get heads nodding and bodies moving. The infectious beat and Olamide’s effortless delivery make it one of fan favorites. It also highlights the vocal delivery of the rising star SABRI.

The welcomed change of pace comes with Hello Habibi, a gentle and melodic love song. Fused with the sound of the Arabian flute offering a blend of Eastern and Western influences, Olamide’s soft vocals croon over a laid-back instrumental, showing a lover boy side of his artistry.

Morowore is a gratitude song. Loosely translated to ‘I see your hand,’ Olamide acknowledges God’s presence in his life, thanking him for all his goodness and mercies. With a blend of laid-back vibes and a choir-backed chorus, the track creates an exotic atmosphere.

The album’s finale, Synchro System, is a brilliant collaboration between Olamide and former YBNL producers-turn-artists and signees Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh. The track is a tribute to the synergy and creativity that has defined Olamide’s career, as the artists trade verses with impeccable flow.
